Arusha, Tanzania
28-29 September 2006
On 28-29 September 2006, ILEAP hosted a conference on 'Mainstreaming Development in Trade' in Arusha, Tanzania. The meeting was attended by 54 participants representing research institutions, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations, and governments. The event engaged those involved in trade capacity building efforts to think collectively about the issues, to exchange information, experiences and curricula, and to discuss key concerns, in order to ensure that trade capacity building is targeted towards poverty alleviation. Participants identified a series of conclusions and ways forward from their discussions, in the areas of policy coherence, the research-policy linkage, long- and short-term training, and mainstreaming trade in national/regional development strategies.
