Dakar, Senegal
13-16 November 2006
Together with the UEMOA Commission, ILEAP organized a meeting of experts from eight francophone West African countries on 13-15 November to provide recommendations to UEMOA trade ministers on the way forward in regional and multilateral negotiations. The meeting was followed by a ministerial session on 16 November, at which the ministers adopted a declaration advocating the immediate resumption of WTO negotiations. Ministers also agreed on a number of specific decisions on EPAs, aid for trade, and various aspects of the negotiations including agriculture and services. In addition to supporting the expert meeting, ILEAP commissioned three studies to inform discussions – on regional tariff concerns, trade facilitation, and services.
